Frequently Asked Questions

We know ordering custom items can raise a lot of questions—about timing, design, materials, and more. To make things easy, we’ve gathered answers to the most common questions we hear. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to help

About Orders & Timing

How long do orders take?

Most of our work is custom-made, so timelines vary depending on the project. Seasonal holiday items are the exception - we usually keep some in stock and ready to purchase.

I’d like to order 20 of something. Do you offer discounts?

Yes. We got our start supplying wholesale items to summer camps, and we’re happy to discuss bulk pricing.

Do you offer fundraising opportunities?

Yes! We work with scout units, sports teams, and other groups. Contact us to explore how we can support your goals.

Design & Customization

I have an idea for an item. Can you work with me?

Absolutely! We love bringing your ideas to life. Share your concept, and we’ll explore what’s possible together.

What is the process for designing artwork?

Our design process is simple and collaborative:

  1. Share your idea - Send us your concept, sketch, or inspiration.
  2. We create a draft - We’ll prepare a digital proof for you to review.
  3. Feedback and revisions - You’ll have the chance to request changes.
  4. Approval and production - Once approved, we move into engraving or production.

Can we provide a logo?

Yes. You can provide your logo, and we can engrave it. Please note that we cannot reproduce trademarked artwork without permission from the trademark owner.

Can you put my favorite sports team’s logo on an item?

No. Because of trademark restrictions, we can’t reproduce professional sports logos without proper licensing.

Can you engrave photos?

Not at this time.

I saw something somewhere else, can you do something similar?

Often, yes. Many factors come into play, but if you share a description or photo, we’ll review the details and let you know what’s possible

Can you engrave something I already own?

Possibly. It depends on the item. If it’s one-of-a-kind or priceless, we don’t recommend it, there’s always some risk. But for most everyday items, we’re happy to discuss the options.

Quality & Variations

I ordered two of the same items and the engravings look different. Why?

Each piece is individually handled, not mass-produced. Engraving involves removing or burning material, and natural materials like wood react differently to the laser. Variations and slight imperfections are normal and add to the uniqueness of handcrafted work.

On-Site & Special Services

Do you offer on-site engraving?

Yes, we do. We have several options:

  • Personalization Station: We bring a curated collection of items and engrave names or initials on-site.
  • Sports Events: At tournaments or meets, we can set up a table with pre-made and custom items.
  • Ornament Bar (Fall Season): Guests choose from pre-cut ornament layers, and we assemble them on the spot.

Can we come watch you engrave?

Sorry, no. Our production space isn’t open to the public.

What services do you offer?

  • Cutting and engraving wood and acrylic (up to 3/8” thick)
  • Cutting and engraving leather
  • Marking various metals
  • Rotary engraving for drinkware and cylindrical items
  • Sublimation (full-color transfers) on flat and cylindrical items
  • Heat transfer on flat items and hats
  • Workspace capacity: approximately 20" x 24"

At 12 Point Designs, we’re a husband-and-wife team who have been passionate crafters for years. Kevin brings his expertise in graphic design and production, while Jenn adds her creative touch and focuses on building lasting relationships with our customers.

Together, we work across a variety of mediums—including wood, leather, acrylic, and metals—to create meaningful, custom pieces.

What began as small projects for fellow scout leaders quickly grew into a thriving venture, expanding each year through collaborations with our local summer camp and beyond. Scouting has always been at the heart of our journey:

Kevin is a lifelong scouter, and when their children joined the program, Jenn quickly discovered the life-changing benefits scouting provides not only to youth but to adults as well. Today, scouting remains an integral part of our family life, and our sons now pitch in too—helping with production and product delivery—making this truly a family business.

As longtime community members, we’re proud to share our work locally and beyond, and our name, 12 Point Designs, proudly reflects the values found in the Scout Law..
